The track:

The track skirts around the island and descends down to Moturua Island’s four main bays featuring sandy and pebble beaches. There are a few steep cliffs and bluffs to be aware of. Steeped in history, there are three main Pa sites with fantastic views from the western Hikurangi Pa. British explorer Captain Cook traded food and supplies with the Maori people from here in 1769 while the French explorer Marion Du Fresne spent a few months at the exact same spot in 1772.
